“The investors have just submitted to MIC, but most of the projects are already started (on the ground). Rules and regulations are just follow-up activities and EIA/SIA is just for ticking the box”, said Ms. Dewi Thant Sin, an environmental activist. Mr. Nyo Maung, an EIA/SIA consultant, said, “Most of the investors have used CSR funds for compensation to the community members for their losses. “They are cheating the community”. And in most cases, investors are not following the EIA/SIA reports”, he continued. The consultants, activists and community members says all the ways of working need to be changed, if the government really care about the people and environment.
