Breaking news: Nam Theun power project achieves $934.5m financing

EGCO Group has secured US$934.5 million (Bt30.5 billion) with commercial banks in Thailand to fund the development and construction of its Nam Theun 1 hydroelectric dam.

Nam Theun 1 Power Company Limited, an associate company of EGCO Group, has entered into a financial agreement for US$934.5 million (Bt30.5 billion) with commercial banks in Thailand to fund the development and construction of its Nam Theun 1 hydroelectric power project.

Located on the Nam Kading River in Bolikhamxay Province of Lao PDR, the project entered into agreements with Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT) and Electricité Du Laos (EDL) to supply 514.3MW power to EGAT and additional 130 MW to EDL for 27 years starting from 2022.
