Urban heat island effect brings record temperatures to Hanoi

How might the heat island effect and climate change be contributing to the extremely high temperatures this summer in Vietnam’s capital?

Vietnam’s capital Hanoi is experiencing extremely high temperatures this summer, much like other major metropolises. Is the heat just tied to climate change and global warming? What other factors might be influencing what’s known as the urban heat island effect? Reporter Anh Thu Nguyen looks at the causes of urban heat waves in places like Hanoi and explores some solutions for combatting them in this episode of VTV’s Green Earth program.
